About Samuel “Samurai Sam” Lochoff, #44 –

Samurai Sam began his racing career in his home country of South Africa in 2016 at the age of 14. His first foray into motorsports was behind the wheel of a race kart, but after about eight months of kart racing, he climbed aboard a motorcycle and was hooked.

Switching his focus from four wheels to two, Sam began racing a Honda NSF100 and proved to be a natural talent as he garnered a number of podiums on the machine. From there, he moved up to a Honda CBR150, and in short fashion, won his first road racing title, which was the Western Cape, South Africa, Regional 150 Junior Short Circuit Championship. He soon followed that championship with the Western Cape, South Africa, Powersport Regional 300 Championship.

In 2018, Sam’s rapidly rising career really got on a fast track—both figuratively and literally—as he went to Europe where he competed aboard a Yamaha YZF-R3 and won the Alpe Adria International Motorcycle Championship and FIM Supersport 300 European Championship. He also raced on the global stage in the FIM World Supersport 300 Championship.

In 2019, Sam, who now resides in Boca Raton, Florida, is competing for the first time on American soil. Aboard the #44 Westby Racing Yamaha YZF-R3, Samurai Sam is competing in the MotoAmerica Junior Cup Championship.
