After finishing second in Saturday’s Superbike race one at VIRginia International Raceway, Mathew Scholtz and his Westby Racing team showed championship-level grit and determination in overcoming Sunday-morning adversity to finish as runner-up in the afternoon’s Superbike race two. The two second-place finishes have put Mathew just four points behind championship leader Danilo Petrucci.

Scholtz’s Runner-Up Result In MotoAmerica Superbike Race One At VIR Moves Him Closer To Points Lead

On a sweltering Saturday at VIRginia International Raceway, Westby Racing’s Mathew Scholtz notched his fourth second-place result out of the five races so far this season. His runner-up finish in Superbike race one moved him to within eight points of the MotoAmerica Championship lead.

Mathew Scholtz And Westby Racing Filled With Vim And Vigor For VIR This Weekend

Round three of the 2022 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Championship starts this Friday at VIRginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia. Rider Mathew Scholtz, along with the entire Westby Racing team, are rolling into the weekend with a firm grip on second place in the championship and a solid plan to come away with two wins at one of Mathew’s favorite tracks.
